Join Wildlife Photographer Jeremy Neipp to witness some of the Central Valley’s most unique waterfowl flying down a corridor river at sunrise.
In this workshop, you’ll be learning how to capture Birds in flight at slow shutter speeds, capturing motion blur like you’ve never photographed before. Techniques like this can be tricky to learn and require specific scenarios to increase the odds of a successful photo. At this location, birds fly in from the north side of a canyon river at sunrise, giving ample opportunity to capture them flying by the river at close proximity. Jeremy will walk you through each step of capturing this behavior at slow shutter speeds so that you can successfully capture birds in flight with motion blurred wingtips and backgrounds.

Itinerary
6:30-8:00AM:
We’ll be starting out our morning at the riverside where waterfowl will fly in from the north side of the river down the south side. Set up on the bank, This corridor provides us the opportunity to get them predictably close and in the same pattern, which will allow us to photograph them using slow exposure techniques in order to capture motion blur.
8:00-10:00AM:
Around 8:00, the fly-ins will mostly be done for the day and we’ll set out to capture photos of the waterfowl in the area, including Merganser, Goldeneye, and Bufflehead. Depending on the year, a Belted Kingfisher pair also frequents the river and if we’re lucky we’ll get to spend the morning with them as well.
Also happy to answer any questions! The goal is to give a personal touch throughout your whole experience. Don’t hesitate to reach out.
